The concept of organizing an exhibition

Considering the aforementioned factors, the trade between the member nations of the Eurasian Economic Union, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Persian Gulf countries demonstrates significant potential.

Regrettably, these nations have not yet fully acquainted themselves with each other’s economic, commercial, and cultural capacities.

The region’s countries possess numerous potentials that, once discovered by traders, producers, and entrepreneurs, will undoubtedly enhance the volume of business transactions.

Negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union were initiated in 2015 with the objective of expanding economic relations with the Eurasian Economic Union subsequent to the signing of a temporary agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between the two entities. This agreement was officially implemented on October 27, 2019. Following the successful implementation of this accord, which currently operates as a preferential trade agreement encompassing a select number of commodities, negotiations have been underway to elevate it to the status of a full-fledged free trade agreement.

Within the framework of this free trade agreement, the customs tariffs on roughly 87% of the items related to Iran’s exports in the Eurasian market will be eliminated, thereby fostering a conducive environment for the advancement of bilateral relations.

On January 18, 2023, a meeting took place between Mr. Alireza Peyman Pak, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, and General Director of the Trade Promotion Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Mr. Andrey Slepnev , Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Union, at the premises of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization. The discussions revolved around the remaining items in the negotiations for the conclusion of the free trade agreement. Subsequently, a final agreement was reached, and efforts are underway to prepare the agreement’s text for signing by the high-ranking officials of the Eurasian member countries and Iran. It is anticipated that Mr. Slepnev will sign the agreement soon, following the necessary approval process by the legal authorities of the respective countries

Following the endorsement and execution of the free trade agreement, it is anticipated that investments and collaborative ventures, along with the establishment of appropriate trade infrastructure, will contribute to a projected increase of approximately $30 billion in trade between the parties involved.

Undoubtedly, organizing diverse international events and exhibitions presents an invaluable opportunity for the private sector to familiarize themselves with each other’s potential capabilities.

Moreover, organizing conferences in conjunction with these exhibitions can greatly aid in recognizing obstacles and overcoming challenges to foster economic relations. These meetings possess the capacity to influence governmental decision-making and shape the overarching policies of nations.
Therefore, in 2020, the idea of the Eurasia Exhibition was proposed and with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade of Iran, this exhibition was successfully held in Tehran with the presence of 5 countries of the Eurasian Economic Union together with Iran.

The second Eurasian exhibition is scheduled to take place in Tehran from December 4th to 7th, 2023. Its primary objective is to enhance economic relations among the member nations of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Persian Gulf countries.
